Millarville Race-Track Summer Festival Feel Wedding
Just in the nick of time! When I had discussed this September date with my couple months ago, weddings were still under restrictions. We were all hoping that by this time, they would be able to have a ‘normal’ wedding. Well restrictions did lift, for a while, and this was the last weekend where they didn’t have to make too many changes. Thank the Lord. There were a lot of prayers said I imagine! And they were answered for a fantastic day full of lots of fun. I love when a couple doesn’t make a schedule that is too rushed, leaves lots of time for the little moments and it shows with all the fun and creative photos we were able to capture on the day!
After all the getting ready fun, we headed to the church – St Bonaventure in South Calgary. This was Carolyn’s home parish that she grew up in. Such a lovely tribute to her religious heritage to head home for the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the family and bridal party had a light lunch back at the McCaffrey home. The family home backs onto a hidden gem – Babbling Brook Park. It was a perfect portrait photography location in Calgary. Lovely stream, fall colours, bridges and even a pond.
After family formals and bridal party portraits we headed south to Millarville Race Track for the reception. Such a lovely little hall that was beautifully designed and decorated – purple and emerald details everywhere. And for dinner – each person was able to order their own meal at two food trucks that were provided by YYC Food Trucks. This is such an affordable and fun way to feed your guests AND it was some of the BEST FOOD I’ve eaten all season! Carolyn and Kellan definitely love music! There was a live Jazz band playing while the mixing and mingling was happening.
I always recommend my couples to plan a little extra portrait time right around sunset for that lovely golden light. For a late summer day, we had fantastic weather. It was warm and just a little breezy.
The finally the formalities and festivities. Laughs, tears and best of all, dancing! SO MUCH DANCING! The band was AMAZING! They were super helpful when I needed extra lighting! I highly recommend the Two Bit Bandits to anyone and everyone having an event!
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Ward! You did it! You made it through a pandemic wedding and it was a blast! Fingers crossed that is a sign of the life together that awaits you.
